Longfellow Music
Longfellow brings a blend of instrumentation and influence to
their music. Various listeners and critics have laid the sound
into the basket of acoustic pop, cuddling up to the likes of
Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson, Bare-naked Ladies, and the Dave
Matthews Band. "Melodically driven by guitar, keys, and violin,
the sound continuously reinvents itself, bathing listeners in a
wash of witty lyrics, fresh hooks, and laid-back, memorable
melodies."
Longfellow took on its infantile beginnings in the summer of
2001 in Athens, Ohio. Having pieced some songs together, Nick
Long approached some acquaintances of his in the School of Music
at Ohio University. Longfellow's first official public
appearance was at a local microbrewery called O'Hooley's on
Friday, October 18th, 2001. In May of 2002, Longfellow released
a self-titled, independent LP comprised of seven original songs.
Also in 2002, Longfellow won the Ohio University Department of
Campus Recreation's battle of the bands competition, as well as
the Ohio University Student Alumni Board All-Campus Talent Show.
The group was comprised of six members: Grant Cambridge (latin
percussion), Geoff Goodhue (set), Matt Harvey (keys), Nick Long
(guitar and vocals), Jonah Powell (violin/lead guitar), and Zach
Quillen (bass). Longfellow continues to grow, sharing their love
of music with others.
