Friends

Technically, I suppose that the definition on the right side of this page of what a friend can be is correct. Yet friends are much, much more than that aren't they? They're people that we can laugh and cry with, they're the ones we can tell our deep dark secrets to when we're afraid that others will ridicule us for our past mistakes. Many of our friends either become more than "just friends" or we wish in our hearts that they would take that next step. The biggest problem with friends, however, is that they can usually only be counted on one hand. The rest merely linger in the shadows, remaining forever merely acquaintances. I, like many others, have only a handful of true, lifelong, friends.
