Normally, in December, I travel to Hartford, Connecticut to visit my friend Tom for our annual holiday vacation time. This year, however, partly because of the events in New York City on September 11, Thomas and I decided to take advantage of the extremely low airfares and excellent weather by traveling abroad to Spain.

Our time was extremely limited and it took quite a lot of planning, but we finally decided on visiting Madrid, the ancient city of Toledo, Seville and southern Spain's Granada -- home to the Alhambra.
