Isle Royale National Park
In late July 2001 my friend, Nathan Chamberlain, and I started on a 20-hour drive to Grand Portage, Minnesota to embark upon a 10-day backpacking trip to Isle Royale National Park. Once there, we met Jordan and Leigh -- some really cool ass people from LaCrosse, WI. After the trip we even met up with the pair in their hometown, where they helped me celebrate my birthday weekend. Oh what a time we had!!!
Renowned for it’s elite status as a world biosphere, Isle Royale is home to the largest pack of wolves ever observed in their wilderness environment. In addition to the native wolves, a large moose population also enjoys the harsh territory, calling it home.
