Denali National Park & Preserve
Being the average guy who enjoys hiking, camping and backpacking, as well as one who enjoys taking photographs, I have always dreamed of heading North to the Yukon – so to speak. I had planned well in advance to do an extended backing trip in southern Alaska, yet I failed to take into account that Mother Nature might not be as cooperative as I’d hoped her to be. And She wasn’t. Enough snow remained that I had to alter my plans and go for a “working” vacation being a photographer for the National Park Service at Denali National Park and Preserve. Since I wasn’t able to do the trip I’d planned, I altered course and invited my sister, Cheryl, and long-time friend Tom along. And what a trip it made for us. Long, lovely days with warm temperatures and no snow. Most excellent. Still though, never got to see Mount Denali even once.
